You can easily transform a PDF file into an interactive Howspace page. When you upload a PDF, a self-directed path mode page is automatically created, with each page of the PDF displayed in an image widget.
This is a quick and effective way to build structured learning paths or interactive presentations, such as webinars. Unlike the PDF widget, which keeps the file in its original format and allows syncing between participants, creating a page from a PDF provides a flexible structure where interactive elements can be embedded between pages for a more dynamic experience.
How to Create a Page from a PDF
Navigate to your Workspace.
Click on the Admin menu.
Click New Page and select Generate from PDF.
Name your page and upload your PDF file (size limit 100 pages).
Click Create.
Review the Automatically Created Page
A new page is created in self-directed path mode.
Each page of your PDF appears as a separate image widget.
Enhance Your Presentation with Interactive Elements
To make your PDF-based page more engaging, add interactive elements next to the Image widgets:
1. Super Chats
Encourage questions, discussions, and reflections on specific slides.
Click Add Widget > Super Chat and place it near the relevant content.
2. Poll, Pulse, Priority, and Allocation
Poll: Gather opinions and instant feedback.
Pulse: Use rating-based interactions (e.g., “How clear is this concept?”).
Priority: Prioritize ideas effectively with group input.
Allocation: Collaboratively allocate resources.
Click Add Widget > Poll/Pulse/Priority/Allocate and customize your questions.
3. Other Features
Textboxes: Provide additional instructions or context.
Annotations & Pinning: Allow users to add contextual comments on Images or PDF files and pin selected areas for deeper engagement.
Tip: Choose the Right Page Mode for Your Needs
By default, the page is created in self-directed path mode, allowing participants to navigate at their own pace. However, you can switch the page mode to facilitated path mode for a more guided experience, ideal for live webinars or facilitated learning sessions.
To switch to Facilitated Path Mode:
Go to Page Settings.
Change the mode to Facilitated Path.
Guide participants through the slides while using interactive elements in real-time.
