Overview
Templates establish repeatable details for new trainings to use. A training is an event or session that participants can enroll in — such as workshops, webinars, company meetups, or self-paced courses. Qualifications can be linked to templates to require participants to meet specific criteria before enrolling.
For example:
For a basic webinar, you might create a "Webinar" template, and then each training event would use this template.
For a recurring "Onboarding Self-Study Course," you'd build another template, and then each new onboarding training session would use it.
For an advanced-level "Advanced Leadership Program," you could create a template that requires participants to have completed a "Basic Leadership Training" qualification before enrolling.
Qualifications
Qualifications can be linked to templates as enrollment requirements. This means a user must hold at least one of the specified qualifications to enroll in a training created from that template.
Creating a new Training Template
When creating a new template, you'll define the basic repeatable structure that all associated trainings will inherit. Trainings use a Template as their starting point, but individual trainings can override most of the template's information if needed.
Here are the key parts of a new template:
Basic info
Name (of the template): Title of the template (always shown next to the training name, for example "Webinar" template's name could be shown next to the "Introduction to Hub" training)
Description: Short explanation of what trainings using this template will be about.
Tags: Keywords for organizing and finding trainings easily.
Location: Location information (e.g., "Online Course," "Helsinki Office," or a specific street address).
Settings fields
You can define preset settings, so each training using the template will be using these informations by default:
Online Workspace: Choose if trainings from this template will use Howspace workspace, other website or has no website. Again, individual trainings have the option to override this value.
Hours: Estimated full hours the training takes. Note: You must use whole numbers (e.g., 1 hour, 2 hours). Even if the session is 30 minutes, it must round to 1 hour. Hours are used to calculate learning points. Individual trainings can override this value.
And more. All the fields you configure at the template level will automatically be inherited by any training created from it. More information about different fields is available in this article.
Require qualifications field
This field affects all trainings using the template, and cannot be overridden. The user must have one of the qualifications before they can enroll in a training based on this template.
