Archive a workspace

This article explains how to archive and re-open a workspace.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Archiving workspaces is available to users with a paid Howspace plan.

Admin users can archive a workspace when it is not needed anymore. User-generated content, visual style, settings, and all essential information are stored in the archived workspace, and it is possible to re-open it at any time. This article covers how you can actively archive and re-open a workspace. We have also implemented an automatic archival and deletion process for inactive workspaces to help admins and main users manage their workspaces. You can read more about the automatic process here.

An archived workspace cannot be duplicated; it must be re-opened first.

How to archive a workspace:

  1. Go to "My workspaces" from the "Profile and Account" menu

  2. Find the workspace you would like to archive

  3. Click the "..." menu and select archive workspace

  4. Now you can find the archived workspace from the "Archived" tab

Note: if you're currently in the same workspace that you're trying to archive, you will only see the option to schedule archival. You can archive the workspace right away by going to a different workspace first and then accessing My workspaces.

How to re-open an archived workspace:

  1. Go to "My workspaces"

  2. Select the tab "Archived"

  3. Find the workspace you would like to re-open

  4. Click the "..." menu and select "Re-open workspace"

  5. You can choose to re-open the workspace for yourself only, admins only, or all users

  6. Now you can find the re-opened workspace on the "Open" tab

If you re-open the workspace for yourself or admins, the remaining users can be found and restored in Workspace Manager -> Users -> Deleted users.
