Recommended image sizes in Howspace

In this article, you will find an explanation of Howspace’s image scaling logic along with size recommendations for optimal display.

Updated this week

To ensure your visuals appear clear and professional in Howspace, it is important to use appropriately sized images. Although Howspace scales images as little as possible, using recommended dimensions helps maintain image quality and consistent layouts across different devices and screen sizes.

Images in Howspace are always scaled based on their width. The scaling depends on the context where the image is used, such as within a widget, a container, or as a background. The height of the image is adjusted automatically to preserve the original aspect ratio. This ensures that images do not appear stretched or distorted.

Workspace background image

For workspace backgrounds, it is recommended to use an image that is at least 1920 pixels wide. This helps ensure that the image appears clearly on larger screens without any loss in quality.

The same guidelines apply for the container background images.

Image widget

For images displayed in the Image widget, the recommended width is 1140 pixels when used in the widest container. Smaller containers can accommodate smaller images, but using a high-resolution image is encouraged. Howspace will automatically scale the image down to fit the container while preserving its quality.

Workspace logo

There are no strict size recommendations for workspace logos, as they are always displayed at a small size. However, for best results, we recommend the following:

  • Use a transparent PNG file to blend well with different backgrounds

  • A square or horizontal format

  • The image can be almost any size, but avoid fine details that may become unclear at small scale
